Martin is a native of Donegal qualifying as a chef in 1986 from the tourism
college in Killbegs, living and working in Paris for a number of years he
returned home, fulfilling his ambition to open a B&B .
Competing in the Moreau
and Chablis seafood chef of the year for 2000 martin's dish "swilly sole"
received great acclaim and went on to win the competition with five other
master chefs.
Martin hosts a monthly
cookery questions and answers programme on the local highland radio
breakfast show with d.j. john bre
slin
a former chef ,to accompany the show martin has also written " The highland
breakfast cookery book" . The book,produced by john is a collection of
recipes created by martin with all proceeds going to a local charity ,"
cairde le cheile " which is the Gaelic for friends together .
After the publishing and
the success of the highland breakfast cookery book , The crest cookery
school was founded in 2005 .

demonstration style cookery classes have proven to be one of the most
enjoyable given in the north west,in his cookery classes he demonstrates how
simple it is to turn wholesome local ingredients into Restaurant style
starters,4 star main course's and some of the north-west's best seafood
dishes ,not forgetting home baked breads and of course the all important
desserts .
with a purpose built
kitchen in hillcrest house the guests and students ,have the opportunity to
taste all the dishes cooked by martin for either their ,lunch or dinner
,they may also take they food home with them.
